Shanghai Putuo Library ，established in 1957 ，moved to its present premises ,No. 1278 Tongchuan Road in 2010.The new building is situated in Zhenru Sub-CBD,Putuo District. It is a comprehensive modern library coverd over 35,000 square meters,which provides the service of book loan, information reserch, training and education, and other entertainment leisure activities.

The library supports multifunctional public service as free reading, children’s library, characteristic literature resources (Suzhou Creek Reading Space).Since 2019, the special activities and functions of Shanghai Putuo Children’s Library have also been integrated to further enrich the reading experience of minors.

Shanghai Putuo Library focuses on creating a cultural brand of ‘Suzhou Creek Reading Space’, which forms a three-dimensional reading activity system of ‘Suzhou Creek Bookstore’ by reading brands such as Suzhou Creek Bookstore Reading Club, Suzhou Creek Bookstore Enjoyable Reading Park, Suzhou Creek Writers Union and Suzhou Creek Reading Salon. We integrates the hardware facilities of reading space and the software construction of reading activities, and focuses on promoting nationwide reading and creating a scholarly Putuo.
